Ostler Family Reunion

The Ostler Family Reunion was held at the end of May at the
Heber Valley Cabins for the second year in a row. Last year,
we took Adelyn on the paddle boat, but this year we took our
chances and tried out the canoe. We managed to stay afloat, but
Grandma and Grandpa Ostler weren't as fortunate. After paddling
on the same side at once, they found themselves in the freezing
cold lake. With the help of a rescue boat, they made it out okay,
but unfortunately their cell phone is still at the bottom of the lake.

Adelyn still talks about when we "went camping and
went on the boat" and she wishes we could go everyday,
although she could probably stand to not have to wear
that ridiculous life jacket ever again.

We also had a great time playing games; catching up
with the family (my favorite part); playing soccer, volleyball,
and doing a ropes course (Ryan's favorite things that I let him
do without me since I look like I swallowed a volleyball!);
square dancing; eating (of course); roasting marshmallows;
and enjoying the camp fire and stars. Sadly enough, I slept
terribly (thanks once again to the volleyball problem) and
decided being seven months pregnant and camping don't mix
too well. Oh well! We still had lots of fun.

Our Little Princess

I thought that now would be a good time to show off my darling little girl. I need to catch up a few months, so these pictures were taken at the end of March and the start of April. Adelyn's cousin Savanna had a birthday party where all the girls dressed up as princesses. Adelyn still talks about "Kiley and Vanna and the princess party." I thinks she wants to have princess party everyday.

This was taken on Adelyn's second birthday. We wanted her to have her own cake to enjoy, and she loved it.

This is all of us after she has poked
around a little in the cake. Yum!

Opening her presents. This is always the funnest part!

Ryan and I bought this Easter egg decorating kit the first Easter after we were married, but always forgot to use it. Having a cute little toddler to share it with gave us the needed motivation. Adelyn absolutely loved making the eggs change colors and putting "little jackets" on the eggs. We had so much fun.

Adelyn loves this horsey and she wants me to sing "Pony Girl" while she rides it.

We had an Easter egg hunt at Grandma Rocque's house the day before Easter. Adelyn was so grateful for her Easter basket full of chocolate, candy, toys, and even a new outfit!

On Easter morning after we got Adelyn in her Easter dress, she thought she'd complete the ensemble with the princess accessories she got for her birthday. But she was a little disappointed when she had to take them off to go to church.

Watch out! It looks like she's ready to cast a spell on something.

Vacation to Maui

Although we've already been back for over a month, I thought it would be fun to give a report on mine and Ryan's trip to Maui. We had such a great time! It was the best vacation ever! It was a perfect place to go for a person 6 months pregnant. We went snorkeling at Molokini (one of the best snorkeling/diving places in the world) and touched an octopus and were within a few feet of huge sea turtles. Wow! We also went to a luau complete with amazing food, fire dancing, hula dancing, and acrobatics. These activities were my favorite of the vacation.

The Maui Ocean Center was quite a treat. It is an aquarium and we were able to see a scuba diver feed a whole tank of sting rays and sharks up close. We also saw a whole array of fish and sea creatures that we've never seen before. It was like being inside "Finding Nemo."

We also went on the "Road the Hana" where we drove along the coastal highway and made stops to hike up to waterfalls, venture through botanical gardens, see the black sand and red sand beaches, etc., all through a beautiful tropical rain forest. It was unlike anything we have ever seen. We saw so many different plants and flowers that are native to Hawaii. The people living in the little villages we passed along the way lived off the land with very little use of modern technology.

The Hana Highway was so beautiful, but driving along the narrow roads and one lane bridges got pretty scary. We were lucky that our rental car place upgraded us and we had a convertible the whole time. Isn't it cute!

The rest of the vacation we spent lounging on the beach and at the pool, eating delicious food, shopping, and just laying around relaxing at the hotel. It was so fun. We want to go back already.
